Bloor West Village, a popular focal point for real estate in Toronto’s west end, as well as a spot with a high concrentration of Real Estate brokerages, is located between two neighbourhoods. To the north is Runnymede, a former streetcar suburb and to the south is Swansea, a former village dating to the 19th century. Bloor West Village is also considered the name of the immediate vicinity of Bloor Street.

The businesses organized themselves in to a business improvement area in 1970 , this was one of the first BIAs in Canada, and in the forty years since the idea has spread to many other areas in Toronto and Canada .
